my thoughts on the Muslim world.

These are my thoughts about the Muslim World. It might be completely incomprehensive but im working on it. I actually post this on facebook, on some cause that I joined. It actually invited me to many opportunities making Muslim friends from across the globe. I hope I can complete my essay on Palestine in time for submission to Karyawan insya'allah.

I would like to post a few pointers in discretion.
I understand many Muslims around the world are filled with emotions, unbearable anger towards Israel's attacks on Gaza.
According to a study by a scholar living in Gaza, she mentioned that 'the most troubling and frightening aspects of occupation..was its mundane, prosaic manner. For Palestinians, occupation was the ordinary-a way of lifetaht had to be lived defensively without recourse or appeal, wothout protection or choice, largely absent of accountability, predictability, rationality or control.'

To summed it all up, it clearly shows:
1) dehumanization of palestinians and israelis and its ravaging effects
2)the traumatization of children and the denial of youth
3) the etiology of violence in the Palestinian context and the radicalization of society
4)loss of ideology and creativity within the society and its consequences

Especially I would emphasized on point 4. By disengaging a society with creativity and ideology, it goes to show 2 things.
1) Israel's motives in occupying Palestine.
2) The lost of Muslim values around the Middle East region.

I let you all think about these two points.

Let us compare and contrast how Muhammad pbuh change the world and brought about his religion and faith to the people.

1) He has strong believers (companions) of either strong political influence or financial background.
2) He engages with the poor
3) He doesn't lie (many muslim rulers now do so)
4) He walks the talk (he does what he preaches)
5) His humble character
6) His forgiving methods in dealing with people
7) The unity among Muslims in protecting Muhammad in the battle of Uhud (they do not only protect Muhammad as a Messenger or a man, but also protect his ideas and faith)
8) The ability to be mediators in a conflict (many rulers do not do so, take a look at Egypt, siding the Israels in the peace talks)
9) Many of the Companions are wise men; they are of people with thirst of knowledge (Salman Al-Farisi)
10) Many practised what Muhammad has brought to them
11) Many loved Muhammad and each other (islamic brotherhood)

So they grew economically strong, socially united, and intellectually mesmerizing. Look at us now. Where is the thirst for knowledge? Where are the Muslims in helping the weak and the poor? I see many rulers with big cars and rich houses. But Saidina Omar Al-Khattab RA only had a house as high as his tip of his head, and a patched-up shirt, but still he was considered the Greatest Caliph in Islam, able to unify Islam in farthest regions and inspiring young Muslims to learn knowledge. He was poor in pocket, but rich in heart and knowledge. He engages well with the poor; he never allowed any Muslim governors to eat nice food or never eat at all if he sees a single man on the streets poor without food. While he encourage wealth and power, he also acknowledged the power of KNOWLEDGE to control it.

In that era where the Prophet pbuh spread islam, we can see phases of his journey that can be learnt and implemented.

1) Establishment of love and strongest of faith in Allah and the Rasul
2) Establishment of people of influence in the circle of Islamic Brotherhood
3) Establishment of control in ideas in a city (medina)
4) Establishment of unity among cities
5) Maintaining these Establishments with the Al-Quran, As-Sunnah and rational thinking (as per his last sermon)

These 5 phases show the importance of establishing an Islamic identity WITHIN AN INDIVIDUAL- fully embracing total Muslim; faith, trust, friendship, love, family togetherness, akhlak, ikhsan, and many more (These characteristic modules provide the strong foundation in the founding stages if Islam), followed by the Establishment of people of powerful interests- influential people like Omar Al-Khatab, Osman Al-Affan, Abu Bakr As-Siddiq, Abdullah ibn Saad and many more (These people gave great impact on the spread of Islam financially, socially and intellectually), followed by the Establishment of ideology and Islamic practices in a city (hijra' of the Muslims to Medina, and making Medina the center of Islamic Knowledge, Power, and Faith), followed by the Establishment of unified hearts among other nations (the control of Islamic Nations under one banner from Arabian lands across Syria extending to Africa) and thus maintaining it with love and faith. Faith for Allah, his Prophet, and the faith for the Islamic Ruler.

One must understand that Islam was unified by a single man, and with that the continuation of a single Caliphate system. However, the Caliphate system was weaken because of the Muslim ruler's favour of wealth and power unlike in comparisons to the first 4 Caliphs, and thus was abolished, and with that, the unity of the Muslim world.

We must advert back to that system again. It is proven by the Prophecies of the End of Times by the Prophet, when Jesus will come down from the heavens and unified the world with him, and his death will be a unifying moment for the Muslims as we pray in togetherness, and the continuation of it when Imam Mahdi is born to lead and maintain the Muslim people.

We must be unified based on the 5 phases of establishment first before we can be stronger to withstand it. There is no use in pointing fingers at to whom is responsible for the weakened stature of the Muslim world. The Prophet mentioned that there is no more other wars except for the fight of An-Nafs. He already has foreseen that we will fall in the influence of our an-nafs. He saw that we will break apart because of our an-nafs. He emphasized the strengthen of one's individual hearts FIRST and at TOP PRIORITY.

May God help us all. Ameen.

Some facts to share. I would like to thank brother Bunyameen from Maldives to share his knowledge on this crisis.

The figures are speaking themselves very loudly. We are unable to listen.

Why are they powerful? Why are Muslims powerless?
Here's another reason. We have lost the capacity to produce knowledge.

o In the entire Muslim World (57 Muslim Countries) there are only 500 universities.
o In USA alone, 5,758 universities
o In India alone, 8,407 universities
o Not one university in the entire Islamic World features in the Top 500 Ranking Universities of the World
o Literacy in the Christian World 90%
o Literacy in the Muslim World 40%
o 15 Christian majority-countries, literacy rate 100%
o Muslim majority - countries , None
o 98% in Christian countries completed primary
o Only 50% in Muslim countries completed primary.
o 40% in Christian countries attended university
o In Muslim countries a dismal 2% attended.
o Muslim majority countries have 230 scientists per one million Muslims
o The USA has 5000 per million
o The Christian world 1000 technicians per million.
o Entire Arab World only 50 technicians per million.
o Muslim World spends on research/development t 0.2% of GDP
o Christian World spends 5 % of GDP

Conclusion:
o The Muslim World lacks the capacity to produce knowledge

Another way of testing the degree of knowledge is the degree of diffusing knowledge.

o Pakistan 23 daily newspapers per 1000 citizens
o Singapore 460 per 1000 citizens
o In UK book titles per million is 2000
o In Egypt book titles per million is only 17

Conclusion:
o Muslim World is failing to diffuse knowledge

Applying Knowledge is another such test.
o Exports of high tech products from Pakistan is 0.9% of its exports
o In Saudi Arabia is 0.2%
o Kuwait , Morocco and Algeria 0.3%
o Singapore alone is 68%

Conclusion:
o Muslim World is failing to apply knowledge

A video clip dedicated to the children and the men and women of Palestine. Once I have the monetary funds and knowledge, I promise you, I'll go there and share your pain. May God bless my journey. Ameen.
